Rough Tracks to a Glorious Destination
This picture shows a pair of old railroad tracks disappearing into a portion of beautiful Lake Tahoe. Remnants of an old path now abandoned, they only serve as a memory of prior travels and experiences.
In similar fashion, many in mortality are currently riding along rough and bumpy tracks, as they face the challenges of all kinds. Physical and emotional challenges, loss of financial security, lost employment and temporal means, loss of loved ones, political strife and contention, natural disasters and countless other things all seem to make the tracks ahead look ominous, unstable and degrading.
And as President Henry B. Eyring recently said, "...life seems especially difficult and uncertain. For some of you, that time is now. If not, such a time will come." (Oct. 2020).
Countless prophetic leaders, both ancient and modern have warned us of the prophesied times to come preceeding the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
And as Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf stated, "the righteous are not given a free pass that allows them to avoid the valleys of shadow. We all must walk through difficult times, for it is in these times of adversity that we learn principles that fortify our characters and cause us to draw closer to God."
He went on to add, "In fact, things might get worse before they get better."
But as with this picture, it is important for us to look up from the degrading and failing tracks beneath us and consider the beautiful and glorious destination those tracks of trial are leading us towards if we but remain faithful and don't jump off the train of faith.
Unimaginable vistas and the peaceful abode of Zion await the faithful. But it is along the fiery and refining tracks we must travel to prove ourselves worthy of the destination beyond.
So no matter what you are currently experiencing, or what may yet come, HOLD ON FAITHFUL AND TRUE!
If we prove faithful and valiant to the path the Master Conductor has laid out for us, the tracks, although bumpy, will yield a destination beyond our imagination!
