Living the scriptures

Image
With so much that has changed in the last several weeks. It gives us things to reflect and ponder on. Over a month ago many of us had our lives change over night. Things that were suppose to be always available were now gone. Some can no longer go to work, parks are closed, schools closed and cancelled, no one can go to church, and most businesses have been shut done unable to open. Stores that are allowed to be open are running low or are out of many things we took for granite. Now people are trying to figure out how to feed their families, pay their bills, mortgages/rent. People are stealing and fighting each other for what another has in their basket because it is something they want and need.  Many people are just trying to figure out how they are going to survive,  not just getting sick and how to keep everything afloat with no money coming in.  What are we facing?? A world wide shut down that started with a serious respiratory virus called CO...

Our savior, Our redeemer

Image
This is a little late it was for Easter. When you go to pick a rose you usually prick your hand  on a thorn and quickly remove your hand, because it hurt. Imagine a crown being made form all those thorns and someone  pushing it down on your head and you couldn't get it off and you where in a lot of pain, but the people who put it there didn't care.      You are hammering a nail but you miss and hit you thumb. You cry out in pain and dance around and maybe say some not so nice words. Now, picture someone hammering large nails into your feet and hands. Your body weight pulls against them while  on a cross. The pain would be unbearable. We would not last long, but we were not the ones on the cross having to go through the pain. Our Savior Jesus Christ did. He did not do it for him but for us all. All our pain we may feel every day, he felt. As ihe endured he said to Our Father In Heaven "Forgive them for they know not what they do". Here he ...

Fasting and Adversity

Image
A friend shared this with me. I found it very profound and true! Something to think about when dealing with life.... "I was taught this morning that our trials and adversity in life are comparable to a fast. Like a fast, we seek spiritual growth for a period of time in which we abstain from some comfort like food. We also make a sacrifice (a fast offering) in connection with our fasts. Adversity is designed for our spiritual growth, [in the premortal existence] we agreed to fast from deliverance for a period of time in a fallen state until we experienced the intended growth. At the end of our adversity and afflictions, our need for growth and food (deliverance) becomes intense. Our fast from deliverance and divine help ultimately brings the intended spiritual growth and the Lord finally intercedes . . .  I learned that exaltation does not mean an absence of sorrow; it means we can have a fullness of joy. Exalted beings choose to live in a manner where they experience a...

The lord will provide a way

Image
Joseph Smith’s first baby passed away at birth. Emma almost died after the delivery as well. And just two weeks after this tragic time in Joseph Smith’s life, he learned that Martin Harris had lost the Book of Mormon manuscript. Joseph began to sob. “Oh, my God, my God,” Joseph groaned, clenching his fists. “All is lost!” The plates and interpreters were taken away from him. Contrast the darkness and hopelessness of this moment with the light and joy Joseph must have felt as he translated these words by Mormon: . “And I [have added the plates of Nephi] for a wise purpose [...]. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will.” (Words of Mormon 1:7) . Joseph knew that God knew. God cared. And God had provided. This passage helps me understand Christ’s grace. Joseph was in the depths of despair. And he had messed up, big time. But God provided a way out and up. A pat...

Everything that is good comes from God.... He truly loves you.

Written by Jade Hansen: "Yesterday, after reading several things from John Eldredge and others, I was taught some things that I don't know that I completely understood previously. Take this quote from John, for instance. "Every wonderful thing in your life is a gift from God, an expression of his heart toward you. All your precious memories, each and every one—your eighth birthday, when you got that little red bike that awakened your love of riding, which carried right on into your adult life. That perfect powder day, when you and your fiancĂ© skied run after run, then warmed up by the fire in the lodge. The vacation you still think about, how fun it was, how carefree you felt. Your wedding reception: the dancing, the inextinguishable joy of it all. Every moment you have ever been happy, thrilled, comforted, hopeful . . . that was God loving you. Such gifts come from no other source. “You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. . . . Every good and pe...

Creation

Image
I had a friend share this me and I loved it..  The Gift of Creation By Anonymous All things are created in the Spirit first. Moses 3:5. We came to earth endowed with spiritual gifts. One of them is the gift to create. I like to think that we all were eagerly watching as Jesus and Michael created this world and everything in it. We learned how organizing matter is essential in creating. WE are blessed every day to use our gift of creating. We create with Him what kind of day we will have. We create a home that is filled with the Spirit. We create beauty with our talents. Some sing, some write, some create beauty from the earth, the list of what can be created is infinite. Most of us have created the most important thing of all- with the Lord we created children from our own bodies. And each one of us was created with individual characteristics.  I know that I am blessed to create with Them every day. Look at your life – What are you creating with God? ...

Home church Service

Image
What is everyone doing for Sunday home church service? What is working and whys not? Any questions or suggestions?? I have found for us/me in doing this I feel the spirit much stronger in our home and a feeling of peace and harmony that abides after when we stay with a day dedicated to him. We tend to keep our thoughts conversations on different discussions that involve thinking more about the gospel in a deeper sense and how I can better myself as a disciple of Christ in all I do and say. The example I set in all those around me. I find that as the we have been told it is no longer a time to sit comfortably in our easy way of simple prayer and church attendance. It is a time to become Nephi. I will go, I will do the things the lords commands. I know the lord will find a way, he wants me to obey. Do we have that kind of faith to change our comfortable lives for the lives that are devoted to the lord? Are we ready for the days ahead that are coming? It is time to get our homes and our...
